‘Get A Boob Job Done’: Deepika Padukone Was Asked
Speaking about facing sexism in Bollywood, Deepika Padukone on Thursday said, "I was advised...to get a boob job, do the beauty pageants." She added, "The people who advised me felt it was the right way to be recognised...by a Bollywood director or producer". Deepika further said, "It might be an easier way to achieve things...But I've always followed my gut."
Deepika Padukone got candid about the #MeToo movement and dealing with her fair share of sexism. The actress revealed that she was adviced to get a boob job and to do beauty pageants.
The #MeToo movement created an uproar in 2017 with many Hollywood actresses coming out in the open about their sexual harassment incidents.
Hollywood bigwigs like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and Morgan Freeman's names popped up and a revolution was born.
While asked to Bollywood's leading lady Deepika Padukone if such an outcry would be possible in Bollywood, the actress stated, "We’re in the same position as the rest of the world, I think we’re all in this together. There’s so much more awareness. There are so many people who speak up and I think in the same way that we see the wheels moving in the right direction globally, I see the same thing happening in India as well.
Padukone also got candid about dealing with her fair share of sexism and shared, "There were lots of things I was advised ‘to do’. ‘To get a boob job’, ‘do the beauty pageants’. They felt it was the right way to be recognised or picked up by a Bollywood director or producer. It might be an easier way to achieve what you want to achieve. But I haven’t been that person; I’ve always followed my gut."
When Deepika Padukone was probed about her engagement rumours with Ranveer Singh, the actress revealed, "I try and keep it separate as much as possible, but I don’t try to fight or control the speculation."
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's engagement rumours have been rife since the beginning of 2018. If reports are to be believed both will be marrying on November 10, 2018, in Italy, as they want to keep things private like Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's wedding ceremony. They will subsequently have a ceremony in Bangalore as well.
Though both have neither confirmed nor denied the marriage rumours, Deepika did reacted on the engagement with Ranveer, "I try and keep it separate as much as possible, but I don’t try to fight or control the speculation."
The grapevine doing the rounds that Deepika is starring in a Wonder Woman inspired superhero film.
