India, June 15:  India registers the historic Test win by an innings and 262 runs. Quality Indian bowling tore apart Afghanistan's batting line-up as they bundled out the visitors for a paltry 109 in the first inning and 103 in the second inning. This is also India's biggest innings wins bettering their previous best of innings and 239 runs versus Bangladesh in 2007. This win comes just before- the all-important away tour to England, India's next assignment.

The second session of day two after lunch was all about the home team. India dominated proceedings with an emphatic bowling performance as they bowled out Afghanistan for a paltry 109 in the first innings. R Ashwin bagged four wickets while seamers Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav did most of the damage at the top. The Afghan batsmen simply failed to turn up on the day and were guilty of playing too many shots without settling in. Incidentally, Afghanistan have batted the fewest overs in an innings of their inaugural Test- 27.5 overs. Once again in the second innings, none of the Afghan batsmen could last long enough to stop the Indian bowlers from inflicting damage. Ravindra Jadeja picked up four wickets as India won the match comfortably.

Batting order for Afghanistan collapsed like a pack of cards as batsmen seemed clueless against accurate Indian attack. Pacers Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma ripped apart Afghan top order in first inning.. Umesh Yadav clinched his 100th Test scalp after dismissing Rahmat Shah for 14 runs.

After the pacers, it was time for the spinner to work their out magic. Both Ashwin and Jadeja picked up wickets in their very first over. The middle-order struggled against quality Indian spinners. Ashwin, who ended up picking four wickets also became fourth highest wicket-taker for India in Tests behind Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev and Harbhajan Singh.

Jadeja too clinched two wickets in the fist innning. For Afghanistan Mohammad Nabi (24) was the highest scorer. Apart from him no other batsmen crossed 20-run mark. India have enforced the follow-on to Afghanistan.

India beat Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs

The Indian team got bundled out for 474 just before lunch on Day 2 of the one-off test against Afghanistan. Resuming on 347 for 6, India lost Ashwin (18) early but Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja frustrated the Afghan bowlers. Morning session of Day 2 belonged to Hardik Pandya as he scored a courageous 71 fighting alongside Jadega (18). 24-year-old Pandya reached his third half century in Tests but succumbed later to the bowling off Wafadar trying to play his famous ramp shot. Umesh Yadav (26 off 21) whacked some lusty blows towards the end helping India with those extra 25-30 runs along with Ishant Sharma.

For Afghanistan, holding on to the old ball strategy worked for Skipper Asghar Stanikzai. Rashid Khan looked much better with the old and created pressure from one end along with other spinner Mujeeb. But Yamin Ahmadzai emerged out to be the most-successful bowler clinching 3-wickets. Rashid Khan and Wafadar grabbed 2 wickets each while Mujeeb and Nabi bagged a wicket each.
